Abdominoplasty

Despite all your efforts to strengthen your abdominal muscles and lose a few extra kilos, your abdomen may still look loose, wrinkled, and you may find yourself wearing only one piece swimsuits. Whether after pregnancy or following weight fluctuations, regular physical activity is not always enough to achieve a flat stomach. Discover the cost of an abdominoplasty, also known as abdominal contouring surgery or tummy tuck, which can be an effective solution.

What is an abdominoplasty?

A common procedure in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, abdominal contouring surgery can truly change the lives of those who choose it. It becomes much easier to dress, find well fitting clothes, practice sports, or even tie your shoes without being bothered by your abdomen.

If there is a muscular pathology and if your deformed belly is responsible for medical complications (dermatosis of the folds, dorsolumbar static problems) the intervention may be covered by your private or semi-private supplementary insurance.

Most often, there is no reimbursement, but the results are so satisfying that many patients regret not having done it earlier in life !

What are the results of an abdominoplasty?

The results are not immediate. Initially, there is significant swelling in the treated areas and some discomfort, which prevents you from fully appreciating the benefits of the surgery for about one month.

The outcome becomes truly noticeable after three months, allowing you to move more freely, wear your clothes comfortably, and enjoy a slimmer silhouette.

What are the indications for abdominoplasty?

Abdominal contouring surgery is most often performed in women who have experienced significant skin stretching during pregnancy. It allows repair of the abdominal wall and removal of skin that has lost elasticity.

In men, indications are less common and usually follow major weight gain followed by weight loss, where surgery provides a final refinement.

In cases of obesity (BMI > 30), surgical treatment such as abdominoplasty allows for better long-term weight loss. However, patients are often treated in hospital plastic surgery departments after a specific medical pathway.

However, if abdominal deformity is due to visceral fat accumulation, the procedure should not be proposed and an alternative solution must be considered.

What technique is used for abdominoplasty?

In my practice, abdominal contouring surgery is combined with complementary liposuction of the waist, upper abdomen, and love handles. I use the high superior tension technique, with deep quilting sutures that significantly reduce fluid accumulation and improve postoperative recovery, producing far superior results compared to the classic technique.

This technique, which gives very good results, makes it possible to extend the indications to patients whose desire is purely aesthetic but whose skin is too loose.

How is an abdominoplasty performed?

The procedure takes place in a clinic under adapted anesthesia. After our consultations, we agree on a surgical date. You will meet the anesthesiologist, who will care for you during surgery, answer your questions, and tailor the anesthesia to your specific case.

You are admitted to the clinic in the morning. The procedure lasts approximately two hours. You wake up pain free, wearing a compression garment and anti thrombosis boots. You may return home the following day and are advised to walk at least 30 minutes, three times per day during recovery.

What are the postoperative effects of abdominoplasty?

Recovery is painless as long as postoperative instructions are strictly followed. The compression garment must be worn for two to three weeks.

You should plan one to four weeks of social and professional rest, depending on your individual case. We will have determined the duration of your leave during your consultations, well before the procedure.

What is the price of an abdominoplasty?

The cost of abdominal contouring surgery depends on the complexity of the procedure and the estimated operating time.

Dr Prevot will provide you with a personalized quotation following your initial medical consultation.
