Peeling

To even out the complexion, reduce pores, fine lines, or pigmented spots, the peeling technique is ideal. It consists of applying a carefully selected solution to the facial skin, which acts on the different skin layers to eliminate damaged cells and stimulate collagen production and cell renewal, creating a true “new skin” effect.

There are many types of peels; the one I prefer is the TCA peel, as it provides visible results with very manageable after effects.

General information

Chemical peels have been widely used since the beginning of the 20th century by beauticians and physicians. Dermatologists later standardized these techniques, which are now highly reliable. Chemical peels can be adapted to all skin types and to a wide range of needs. They help improve skin texture, reduce imperfections, and boost skin radiance.

Thanks to their targeted action, peels are an effective alternative to conventional skincare and can complement other treatments, such as hyaluronic acid injections, botulinum toxin injections (ToxBot), or PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), for a global approach to skin aging.

The skin must always be prepared for one to two weeks before treatment and protected from the sun for at least two months afterward. Well prepared skin reacts better and provides a more even result. The use of specific creams before and after a TCA peel optimizes the outcome and reduces the risk of irritation.
Sun protection is essential : even indirect exposure can compromise the benefits of the treatment and lead to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. As sun exposure accelerates skin aging, daily protection is strongly recommended.

Peeling is not just a simple glow treatment. It acts deeply to stimulate cell regeneration, improve microcirculation, and strengthen the hydrolipidic barrier. This stimulation also helps even out the complexion by reducing pigment irregularities linked to sun exposure, aging, or acne scars.

Results and after effects

The after effects of a peel are simple but require discipline. During the first hours, the skin appears red, similar to sunburn. Then, a thin, slightly darker coloration covers the face and begins to crack around the mouth by the 3rd or 4th day.
During the peeling phase, it is important not to pull off the flaking skin, to avoid residual marks. Hydration plays a key role : well nourished skin recovers faster and reveals a luminous complexion without persistent redness.

With a medium depth peel, such as the TCA peel, the “new skin” effect is progressive and natural. Gradually, the entire skin surface renews itself without pain. Throughout this period, sun exposure is strictly prohibited.

The result becomes visible after about 15 days. There is no frozen effect, but a genuine glow, a reduction in superficial wrinkles, and an improvement in skin texture. In the long term, the rejuvenating effect is reinforced by collagen stimulation, which helps maintain firm, smooth skin.

This type of medium peel is also effective for certain superficial scars, helping to smooth the skin surface and even out pigmentation. Dilated pores tighten, the skin becomes more supple and more uniform. Depending on individual needs, several sessions may be recommended to maximize results and maintain a radiant complexion throughout the year.

Procedure

During the consultation, I will take your request into account and discuss the possible solutions with you. In this first exchange, we will determine together the most appropriate peel for your skin and expectations. I consider your phototype, skin history, and skincare habits to adjust the concentration and depth of the medical procedure.

If we choose a peel, I will prescribe the products needed to prepare your skin. The treatment takes place in the office, and no anesthesia is required.

During application, you will feel a significant sensation of heat, but it is completely tolerable. You should allow approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to treat the entire face.

The post peel phase is just as important as the procedure itself : an adapted skincare routine with soothing creams and strict UV protection ensures an optimal result.
