Summary
General information
Since the Second World War and the involvement of the United States in Japan, the demand for breast augmentation among Asian women has increased significantly. This trend had already appeared in the United States with the introduction of Cronin implants and those developed by the Dow Corning company.
Women with little breast volume, deprived of what is often perceived as a primary female sexual attribute, may develop a complex that impacts their daily life. But with improved outcomes and increasing safety of these procedures, demand has evolved and moderate breast augmentation seems to be becoming more and more common.
Results
The result is immediate and evolves slightly during the first two months as postoperative swelling subsides. Wearing a supportive bra is necessary for 4 to 8 weeks.
Postoperative follow up is essential, as with any surgery, but I also propose a long term follow up, including an annual consultation and a systematic ultrasound starting from the 8th year after surgery. I only replace breast implants when necessary, but it should be considered that a replacement will likely be needed at some point in life and should be approached calmly.
Indications
There are three indications for breast augmentation with implants :
- A breast volume smaller than a B cup
- Asymmetrical breasts, whatever the cause
- A “deflated” breast after pregnancy, weight loss, and or the passage of time
Each redesigned curve reflects a careful and respectful approach, adapted to individual characteristics.
Technique
The technique must be fully adapted to each patient’s morphology and lifestyle. This is why several techniques always exist, each with its advantages and disadvantages, as well as different implant types and shapes. For a detailed description of these techniques, please refer to the SSCPRE information sheet.
My preferred technique is the axillary approach, using pre filled silicone breast implants, round in shape (to avoid secondary deformities), placed in a dual plane position. Depending on the patient’s wishes and anatomy, we may choose a different approach (inframammary or areolar), anatomical implants, or placement in front of the muscle.
In some cases, to achieve a better result, I may suggest combining the procedure with a fat graft to cover the implant ( composite breast augmentation ).
For my part, I have always refused to comply with excessive demands because the risk of complications becomes greater.

Procedure and postoperative course
The surgery is always performed after at least two consultations and after a mammogram or breast ultrasound has been carried out.
First consultation
This consultation allows us to discuss whether or not breast augmentation with implants is right for you. After reviewing your request and medical history, and after examining you, I can advise you on the desired implant size, surgical approach, and placement.
I may also advise against surgery if I believe your breasts are already perfectly fine.
If surgery can be considered, we determine the ideal final volume for you.
Second consultation
You will have reviewed the written information provided and completed the prescribed imaging exam. We will then resume the discussion and volume trials to define precisely what is needed :
the position of the scar, the implant placement, as well as the volume of the breast implants.
Questions
If you still have questions after the second consultation, I can answer them by email or by phone or see you again as many times as necessary.
The surgery
The length of stay in the clinic varies from 12 to 36 hours. The procedure itself lasts 1 to 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Upon waking, you will not feel any pain because a pain reliever that is effective for 3 hours is applied directly to the surgical area.
You will immediately wear your supportive bra. You may shower the same evening or the following day.
Recovery
A one week rest period is recommended, with no driving, and a gradual return to sports activities about one month after surgery. Pain is generally very manageable with simple painkillers during the first week.
Operating gently significantly reduces postoperative discomfort.
Pricing of breast augmentation with implants
Breast augmentation with implants is a cosmetic procedure whose costs generally include the anesthesiologist’s fees and post-operative follow-up. A detailed and personalized estimate will be provided during your preoperative consultation.
FAQ
There are two main types of implants : silicone gel filled implants and saline filled implants. Silicone implants are often preferred for their more natural feel.
The size and shape are determined based on body morphology, personal preferences, and the surgeon’s recommendations to achieve a harmonious result.
Scars may be placed under the breast, around the areola, or in the armpit. The location is discussed with the surgeon according to individual preferences and needs.
A mammogram or breast ultrasound is required to assess breast health and ensure procedural safety.
Full recovery usually takes a few weeks. Most patients can resume daily activities after one to two weeks.
As with any surgery, risks exist, such as infection, hematoma, or implant related reactions. A detailed preoperative consultation helps to fully understand these risks.
Yes, breastfeeding is possible after breast augmentation with implants.
Yes, it is recommended to avoid intense physical effort, wear a compression bra, and limit certain movements for several weeks.
Painkillers are prescribed to relieve discomfort. Sensations of tightness or discomfort usually decrease after a few days.
Final results are visible after 2 months, once initial swelling has resolved and the implants have stabilized.
Yes, implants can be removed or replaced if needed or if aesthetic preferences change. Implant removal requires a new surgical procedure.
Modern implants are designed to last many years, but regular monitoring is recommended. Some implants may require replacement after 10 to 15 years. You should expect to have to change your implants several times in your life if you get them from the age of 25.
