Platelet Rich Plasma Injections (P.R.P)

For decades, medicine has sought substances capable of repairing skin cells and rejuvenating tissues. Platelets naturally present in the blood have the ability to trigger tissue healing thanks to substances known as growth factors. When in contact with cells, these growth factors stimulate tissue regeneration. This principle forms the basis of platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment.

PRP can be used to stimulate hair growth after transplantation, improve fat graft survival, promote healing of chronic wounds, and rejuvenate the skin.

General information

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a natural solution derived from your own blood, used in aesthetic medicine and reconstructive surgery to stimulate cellular regeneration. Thanks to its high concentration of growth factors, it activates healing processes and improves tissue quality.

Its range of applications is broad : skin rejuvenation, hair stimulation, fat graft integration, and improved postoperative healing. In aesthetic dermatology, PRP is widely used to treat tired, dull, wrinkled or lax skin, reduce hollow dark circles, and enhance deep hydration.

By stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, PRP restores better skin tone and a more even appearance. It is also used in the treatment of acne scars, where it improves skin texture and smooths irregularities.
For patients experiencing androgenetic alopecia or seasonal hair loss, PRP offers an effective solution to slow hair loss and strengthen hair fibers.

This regenerative concentrate is commonly used in the following indications :

  • Superficial micro injections, as mesotherapy, to firm the skin and restore radiance.
  • Deeper injections, to improve tissue density and quality, particularly for dark circles or sagging areas.
  • Direct injections into the scalp, to stimulate hair growth, slow hair loss, and improve follicle anchorage.

Procedure

The treatment takes place in the medical surgical office. A blood sample is taken by my nurse, from which the platelet rich plasma is extracted. After centrifugation, the PRP is separated and prepared for injection.

The plasma may be used :

  • Applied directly to a wound,
  • Injected by micro injections into the skin for rejuvenation,
  • Injected into the scalp to stimulate hair growth.

The procedure is minimally painful thanks to the use of very fine needles or adapted cannulas. An anesthetic cream may be applied beforehand to improve comfort. The session duration depends on the indication, but generally lasts 30 to 45 minutes.

Results are progressive, as the regenerative process develops over several weeks. A protocol of three to four sessions, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, is often recommended to optimize outcomes.

Results and after effects

In the hours following the session, the treated area may show mild redness, slight swelling, and occasionally small bruises, which resolve within a few days. The skin quickly appears more radiant, better hydrated, and firmer.

After 15 days, the first visible effects appear, with a gradual improvement in skin texture and a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. The complexion becomes more even, pores appear tighter, and signs of fatigue diminish.

On the scalp, hair results develop progressively : hair loss slows, hair becomes stronger, thicker, and shinier. After three to six months, hair density and volume improve noticeably.

To prolong the effects of PRP treatment, it is recommended to adopt an appropriate routine : daily hydration, sun protection, and, for hair treatments, the use of specific supplements that support hair strength.

With regular maintenance sessions, PRP stands out as a natural and long lasting solution to improve skin quality and hair vitality.
