Aesthetic Medicine

Aesthetic medicine helps to smooth out wrinkles, lift the eyebrows or restore lip volume through simple and painless injections. It can also correct certain nasal imperfections (medical rhinoplasty) or address facial imbalances through medical profiloplasty. These treatments subtly correct signs of fatigue or harshness in the face. . Daily activities can be resumed immediately. The choice between hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin depends on your skin and your expectations. During the consultation, I will guide you toward the most suitable solution. These products, often complementary, are well tolerated and associated with no major risks.

Two conditions : using the right dosage and choosing high quality products that have proven their safety for more than twenty years.

Introduction

First, it’s important to understand that there is no opposition between aesthetic medicine and aesthetic surgery, quite the opposite. These are complementary techniques that I have always used together. Let us not forget that all surgeons are first and foremost physicians: as such, we practice medicine and surgery within the limits of scientific knowledge, our specialized training, and our experience.

It is therefore with great satisfaction that I achieve more and more significant improvements of the face or body without surgery, thanks to advances in aesthetic medicine techniques. Many surgical specialties have evolved since the second half of the 20th century; for example, the treatment of gastric ulcers is no longer surgical today, but preventive and medical, thanks to the discovery of new molecules and a better understanding of their causes.

Indications for aesthetic medicine

Aesthetic medicine includes all medical procedures with an aesthetic purpose that do not involve skin incision: no cutting of the skin. It includes lasers, peelings, injections, and ultrasound treatments. Although its scope is increasingly broad, it cannot address every issue – it may either complement aesthetic surgery or be used alone for a specific indication.

If the goal is to achieve a natural rejuvenation of the face, surgery is most often necessary. If your specific case cannot be properly treated with injections, I will tell you so. Having practiced both aesthetic medicine and surgery for many years, I can advise  you when aesthetic medicine has reached its limits, in order to avoid unnecessary treatment.

Aesthetic medicine can reduce wrinkles, reshape the face, enhance and redefine the lips, improve the nasal line, refine facial contours, and lift the eyebrows.

This is achieved through the thoughtful use of the two flagship molecules of aesthetic medicine: botulinum toxin (commonly known as Botox°) and hyaluronic acid.

Cosmetic medicine can also correct facial imbalances  through profiloplasty, which encompasses various techniques aimed at harmonizing the facial profile, particularly around the nose, chin, and sometimes the lips. In its non-surgical  form, it relies on hyaluronic acid injections to correct certain irregularities without resorting to surgery.

In some cases, a surgical approach may be recommended for a more lasting and structural result, for example, by combining rhinoplasty and genioplasty. The choice of technique depends on the analysis of the face, the patient’s expectations, and the desired outcome.

Any medical care requires a medical history, a clinical examination and a diagnosis before proposing a treatment plan.

During the first consultation, we discuss your request and medical history (allergies, previous experiences, etc.), I observe and examine you, take photographs, and propose a treatment plan.

The treatment may be carried out during a later appointment or immediately, depending on the situation.

During the same session, I can perform Botox° injections as well as hyaluronic acid injections, as there is no incompatibility. An informed consent form with a cost estimate will be provided.

If your request concerns facial aging, it is important to understand that injections can erase visible signs of aging, but they cannot stop the passage of time. Repeat sessions will therefore be necessary, according to a personalized program that I will outline during the first consultation.
