Thread lift
Thanks to thread lifts, it is possible to re tension sagging tissues of the face and neck to achieve a lifting effect without scars. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia at the medical office, with simple after effects and results that are limited over time. The placement of thread lifts requires solid surgical experience to ensure results that meet expectations.
Several techniques can be used to lift the eyebrows, cheekbones, jowls, or tighten the neck, depending on each patient’s needs.
The result is often optimized by combining other in office techniques, such as hyaluronic acid injections, botulinum toxin injections, or light chemical peels. Swelling and small bruises are usually present for 3 to 6 days.

General information
Thread lifts appeared in the early 2000s under the name “Russian threads” and were originally made of non resorbable material. These are barbed threads designed to anchor into tissues so they can be lifted without creating scars.
They are now available in a slowly resorbable form, which reduces the risk of intolerance and infection without compromising effectiveness.
One of the major advantages of resorbable thread lifts is that they leave no scars. They help restore volume and firm the skin without incisions. The choice of thread depends on several factors, including skin thickness and the area to be treated. Some finer threads are preferred to stimulate collagen, while others, more robust, provide a stronger lifting effect.
The action of facial thread lifts goes beyond simple tissue repositioning. They also stimulate the skin at depth and improve skin texture, especially when combined with restructuring threads.

Procedure
The initial consultation is essential to correctly determine the indication and avoid disappointment. It also allows preparation of the procedure and a detailed explanation of the expected after effects, which may vary from one person to another. I also determine the number of threads required based on your expectations, and we discuss preparation, procedure, after effects, and treatment cost. Therapeutic alternatives are also reviewed.
The procedure begins with careful skin disinfection and the application of local anesthesia to ensure optimal comfort. Using a micro cannula or a fine needle, I insert the threads under the skin following precise vectors, aligned with the natural lines of the face for a harmonious repositioning of tissues.
The threads are placed deeply, at the level of the hypodermis, allowing for stable anchoring and an effective lifting effect. Once in place, they are gently adjusted to achieve the best possible result. The duration of the procedure depends on the number of threads and the areas treated. After placement, a sensation of skin tightness may occur, indicating that the threads are properly positioned and active.
Results and after effects
Results are visible immediately, within the hours following thread placement. Edema (tissue swelling) and bruising may occur and can last a few days. It is advisable to allow about 10 days before an important social or professional event.
A follow up consultation is scheduled around the 8th day, then additional visits at 6 and 12 months to assess the real duration of the result, with photographic documentation.
It is important not to expect the same outcome as a surgical facelift. Thread lifts are positioned between injections and surgery. When combined with a minor procedure under local anesthesia, such as upper eyelid surgery or a mini facelift, the result can be further enhanced.
