Abdominal Liposuction
Abdominal liposuction is an excellent procedure that can durably transform the silhouette without leaving visible scars. It helps achieve a flatter and more harmonious abdomen by targeting localized fat deposits that are often resistant to diet and exercise. This technique is intended for patients who wish to refine their abdominal area in proportion to their body shape.
Advanced techniques, such as Vaser® ultrasound-assisted liposuction, can also be used to optimize the precision of the procedure and the quality of the result.

Summary
General information
Along with liposuction of the saddlebags, this surgical procedure has been one of the most frequently performed since liposuction techniques improved in the 1990s. It once suffered from a poor reputation, as it was performed in many cases by insufficiently trained practitioners, leading to unsatisfactory results and sometimes serious complications.
Today, technological advances and refined techniques make it possible to achieve safer, more harmonious results, with lighter postoperative recovery. However, abdominal liposuction must be performed in a strictly medical setting by an experienced surgeon. When these conditions are met, the procedure delivers reliable and natural outcomes. Proper indication is essential to avoid irregularities or asymmetries. My role is to advise you accurately based on your morphology and expectations.
Indications
When an accumulation of fatty tissue deforms the abdomen and does not disappear despite a stable weight adapted to your body constitution, the fat can be surgically removed using liposuction. If your skin is significantly stretched, another body contouring procedure, such as abdominoplasty, may be required in addition.
During the consultation, I assess the quality of your skin and explain to what extent it will tighten after liposuction. Each skin reacts differently depending on its natural elasticity, your age, and your lifestyle. This is why careful evaluation before surgery is essential to achieve an optimal result. Appropriate postoperative care, including massages and wearing a compression garment, also promotes skin retraction.

Technique
Liposuction techniques have evolved considerably since their invention by Yves-Gérard Illouz in 1971. The development of various approaches such as superficial, tumescent, deep, micro-liposuction, and others allows me to select and combine the techniques best suited to your individual case. The principle consists of “liquefying” the fat by injecting fluid into the fatty tissue, then aspirating it using a cannula inserted beneath the skin, in a uniform manner.
Abdominal liposuction requires meticulous attention to volumes and natural lines to achieve a smooth, balanced, and long-lasting result.
Vaser® Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction
Vaser® ultrasound-assisted liposuction is an advanced technique that allows for the precise targeting and liquefaction of fat cells before aspiration. It facilitates the treatment of fibrous areas such as the abdomen, while preserving surrounding tissues. This technology also allows for better skin retraction and a more harmonious result. It is particularly suitable for refining the silhouette and, in some cases, improving contour definition.
Procedure
The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis or with one postoperative night in the clinic. Under general anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, or enhanced local anesthesia, infiltration is carried out first. I then make small incisions (less than 1 cm) in discreet areas. Liposuction can begin, with continuous control of tissue thickness, cannula position, and the quantity and quality of fat removed. The result is visible immediately, and I stop once it is homogeneous and satisfactory.
Postoperative course
You should plan one week of rest, wear a compression garment for 15 days, and allow time to fully appreciate the result, which becomes visible after three months.
Results
The result is immediate, but significant swelling and bruising appear in the first hours after surgery, preventing you from seeing it right away. You will need to wait for the edema to subside to be satisfied. In some cases, stabilization takes longer because excess skin requires time to naturally retract. In such situations, massages are recommended and an additional three months may be needed to achieve the final result.
